French dance and music

Status:Active, open to new members
Leader:
When: 2:00 pm-4:00 pm
last thursday of the month
Venue: Thomas Cook Memorial Hall

We meet in Thomas Cook memorial Hall. There is a small charge of £2 to cover room costs and tea/coffee and biscuits.

Dances we learn are schotishes, bourrees, waltzes, mazurkas, gavottes and Breton dances. Steve plays melodeon (button accordion) and Peter plays fiddle so there is lovely live music to dance to.

Some dances are couples dances but don't worry if you haven't got a partner - one will be found! The Breton dances are usually done in lines or circles and no partners are needed. We don't need to hold hands although it is nice to do so!

Come along and give it a go.

For more information, please EMAIL Diana by clicking the enquiry link above

If you wish to see what we do here are a couple of links to view two of the many dances available. One is Breton, Pach pi, and the other is danced all over France, the schottische.

Come and join us for our next dance/music session in the Thomas Cook Hall from 2pm on Thursday 28th November. The dance in the video is Rond St Vincent and is one we’ll have a go at next week. If you don’t want to dance just come and listen to the music and if you play an instrument, bring it along and join in. https://youtu.be/r_htX_03IQw
